Exeter Saracens U9's (15 -v- 25) Teignmouth U9's
A game played over 4 quarters to ensure all Exeter Saracen players got a game having double the squad of Teignmouth. The first Sarries team was slow to get into the game, which proved to be disastrous as Teignmouth sported a well disciplined squad who all knew exactly where their position was on the pitch and were ready for action from the off. Teignmouth's passing from each start phase of the game was superior to Exeter Saracens and they continually succeeded in getting the ball to the wing which gave 3 tries to the visiting squad. The second quarter and Sarries second of their teams proved much harder for the visitors who despite being physically and mentally prepared for the battle did not realise how the grit and determination of the Exeter Saracens squad would stop them in their tracks. Sarries had most of the territory in this quarter but Teignmouth managed to get in a quick try running the length of the pitch in the last minute. The third quarter and the return of the first squad. This time with fiery determination. Again Teignmouth had difficulty in finding a way past Saracens but their ability to hold their position on the pitch proved to be Saracens downfall as they passed the ball again to the wing to score another try. By the final quarter it looked like Saracens were never going to cross the line. Saracens U9's however are trained to ignore the scoreline though and concentrate on the next phase of play. Lewis Geran as fly half played his role well in supporting breakthroughs and finally took Saracens on the scoreboard. This gave Saracens the boost they needed. Brad Davies who did his job well as a centre driving through the Teignmouth squad time and time again finally received his reward with a well earned try. Fly half Lewis though wasn't finished and with a supersonic run down the wing to score a third try for Saracens. Man of the match today goes to newcomer Callum Barber for his spectacular tackles. You would have thought he had been with the squad since the start of the season.

Exeter Saracens U10's (25 -v- 0) Teignmouth U10's

Sarries dominated this game from start to finish. Jack Clark broke the deadlock early on and this early score gave the home team confidence. They were constantly putting pressure on Teignmouth when they had the ball and this led to the away side making errors and turnovers for the Sarries. Charlie Pike pick the ball up in the loose and raced into the corner for the Sarries 2 nd try. This was quickly followed by a good run and score from Jack Searle. By now the Sarries were firmly in control and Teignmouth were finding it tough to make any headway when in possession. Charlie Pike danced through the defence for his second try and Mace Haines plundered his way over the line for the final score of the match. The Sarries still have much work to do on their rucking but this was a convincing and confidence boosting win for the boys.

Teignmouth U11's (7 -v- 77) Exeter Saracens U11's

Exeter Saracens travelled to Teignmouth with a squad of 18 players who all played a part in a convincing win. The game was played over three 20minute periods. Sarries played a good all round game with the forwards producing a great base from all areas of play to enable the Saracens backs to make the most of the good ball provided. Try Scorers - Toby Papp / Michael Winter (x2) / Harrison Elliott (x3) / Ollie May / Jake Herbert / Harvey Ridgeway / Harry Botterill / Megan Coombes / Levi Shepherd. Successful Conversions - Joe Winsor (x2) / Harvey Ridgeway / Charlie Clewlow / Harrison Elliott (x2)

This was definitely a game of two halves with Sarries really only turning up for the second half. Teignmouth started the game as they meant to continue with strong running and Sarries couldn't get into the game. Teignmouth took the game to Sarries with five converted tries. Sarries having no answer to Teignmouth's speed and determination were glad of the half time whistle.

(Half Time - 35-0)

Sarries came out fired up second half and competed for the ball much better but with a mountain to climb after the first half it was never going to be easy! The forwards were driving on in the mauls and rucks and there was a lot more to cheer about this half with more possession and purposeful running. The backs were now tackling which was lacking before. Sarries were rewarded for their efforts with a try for Lawrence Parker and the conversion was tucked away by Sam Garner. Teignmouth did come back with two more tries and conversions to win the second half. From this game we need to learn that we must start with the conviction and aggression in tackling that we showed in the second half. Had we done that, the score line would certainly not have been that big a margin.

Full Time - 49-7)

Man of the Match for Sarries Ash Brindley.

Sarries warmed up ready for a game that they knew was going to be a tough and physical encounter against an agile and well coached side that had made the trip up from Devonport. The game proved to be exactly what was envisaged but Sarries rode the Devonport aggression and put together some stunning, skilful and determined rugby to end up convincing winners.

The first half saw Sarries fighting up the slope and against the blustery wind but the forwards ensured that the play was kept in the Devonport's half. With superb rucking and mauling the ball was presented time after time. Excellent tackling from Alex Evens, Owen Mugford and Jack Hamlyn halted any breakouts. The scrums were evenly matched but with the Sarries front row, Theo Thomson, Steven Gill and Ross Watts pinching a few from Devonport against the head, then there needed to be a big pat on the back for the complete pack of forwards. The Sarries pressure on Devonport told three times in the first half resulting in three well taken tries. Fionn Wright piercing a hole through the Devonport defensive lines from a popped pass at a penalty, Dominic Ditchburn picking up and going over from the rear of a ruck plus Kai Little who made a well timed incisive run down the wing to receive an offload and take the ball over the line. Two of the three conversions were successful, one from James Tancock and one from Hamlyn.

(Half Time – 19-0)

Now that Sarries had the slope and the wind then who knows what was going to happen. Devonport stepped up a gear and although they were almost constantly on the back foot showed some good hearted defensive skills. Sarries again set up camp with the oppositions half with excellent pressure applied by the forwards and wonderful runs from the backs always supporting each other to secure the play. The half was made up of Sarries making advances to the Devonport line with tight yardage being made from the backs and blistering runs from the backs that linked so well. On a couple of occasions the play seemed to go the wrong way on the blind side with the open side exposed and numbers available. Devonport were resolute in their defence and it took an age until finally a well worked passage of play released Little for his second try of the morning into the corner. With the conversion successful by Hamlyn then the game was effectively out of Devonport's reach with only a few minutes remaining. Devonport made further advances out of their half briefly but Sarries always had the confidence to thwart the attack. Good running clearing up by Will Haigh at full back ensured that any long kick was taken back into the heart of the action for the likes of Adam Tregedeon and Max Augstburger to put themselves about in the mauls. Sarries closed the game out on the attack which was a fitting end to a dominant display.

(Full Time – 26-0)

Excellent and well executed skills ensured that this game was only going to have one conclusion. Confidence, vision and the ability to produce rugby of this standard against such well organised opposition is a credit to the full squad.

The Sarries Man of the Match for this game was awarded to Steven Gill who did his work in the forwards to secure the play were necessary but had the awareness and ability to appear in the back line, sometimes off of the same play, to add a further dimension to several attacks.

Exeter Saracens U14's (41-v- 5) Teignmouth U12's

Exeter Saracens under 14's played hosts to Teignmouth on Sunday. Both sides started well with Teignmouth slightly dominating the early forward exchanges. However Sarries slowly began to get their game together and after winning a few phases of quick possession were able to get the ball wide where centre Matt Pullen was able to get away from the visitors defence to crash over for the first score of the game. Sam Gibbins added the conversion. Teignmouth continued to offer strong resistance and scored a try through Jack Saunders. The home side upped their game and scored again just before half time through Will Tavener. Gibbins added the extra points to give the home side a 14-5 lead at the interval.

The second half saw Sarries playing into the increasingly strong wind and saw them dominate most areas of the encounter with further quick tries coming form Ben Shires, Jake Boatfield and Sam Gibbins. Sarries scored again following a tap-penalty move which saw Ben King crash over from close range. The final try of the match was scored by Nathan Pincott-Allen who crossed the line for his first try for Sarries following a period of fine support play and rucking by the home side. Alec Wheatley added a further conversion to give the home side a 41-5 win over a determined and well drilled Teignmouth side. Saracens man of the match was Ben King
