U16's - Match Report (08/11/09) - DRFU Landscape League
Tiverton - Away (Won 0-50)

Exeter Saracens travelled to Tiverton at the weekend to play their latest Landscape fixture. Sarries were attempting to keep their unbeaten record in the league, hoping to make it 4 wins from 4 games.

The match went ahead even though mid Devon had received a months rain in about 2 weeks. Both teams appeared up for the encounter, but it was Sarries who had the first chance to put points on the board after 3 minutes when the home side gave away a penalty but the kick went wide. Sarries continued to apply the presure and they got their first score when Pip Arnold crossed in the corner folllowing some fine forward play and inter passing in the backs. Matt Lloyd kicked the conversion. It was Lloyd who scored the second try following a fine display of individual skills when he kicked ahead and gathered his own kick to touch down. Sam Gibbins added the extra points from the conversion. Arnold grabed his second try when the forwards turned the ball over close to the Tivvie line. Gibbins added the extras. Sarries were now playing well as a team and again as they passed the ball wide it was Ben Shires who cut back inside to make the score 26 -0 to the visitors at the break.

Andy Woodward made a number of fine tackles to keep the home side from scoring. In the second half it was Arnold who crossed again early on with Shires grabbing his second shortly after. Gibbins added the extras before Shires crossed again In thye last seconds of the game Shires charged down a clearence kick to cross for the final try which Gibbins converted. The final score being Tivvie 0-Exeter Saracens 50

Saracens man of the match was Charlie Hayward for a fine display of decision making, tackling and all round match awareness. Full credit should go to Tiverton, who were under the cosh throughout the game but never gave up. Well done to them.
