U16's - Match Report (04/10/09)
Crediton - Home (Won 21-19)

A depleted Saracens side played an equally depleted Crediton side at Exhibition Fields on Sunday. Both sides were the victims of injuries, unavailability's and players on County duty. Crediton started the game keener and more committed , out playing their hosts in most areas. They caused problems in the contact area out rucking the home side. It was Crediton who scored first, taking a 12 point lead in as many minutes. Saracns began to get their game together during the latter part of the first half and began to compete with more gusto, eventually replying through tries from Ben Shires and Huw Rosser with Sam Gibbins kicking both conversions to give the home side a 14-12 lead at the break.

In the second half it was Crediton who again started the stronger crossing with a converted try to re-take the lead 19-14. However it was Sarries who upt their game and scored in the corner when Rosser grabbed his second of the game. Gibbins kicked an excellent conversion to give the home side a 21-19 point advantage. Even though both sides tried hard to increase their points tally it was the home side who sneaked the result. Both sides are to be congratulated on their commitment and sportsmanship in what was a fine display of youth rugby.
