U12's - Match Report (08/11/09)
Tiverton - Home (Won 19-7)

Sarries produced a strong team performance to edge a close encounter with Tiverton.

A typically slow start from the home side allowed Tivvy to take an early lead with a converted try. Fortunately this seemed to galvanise the home side into action and they began to up their performance. The Sarries pack began to dominate the set plays, winning the lion's share of the scrums particularly. Billy Holwill, Shey McNiffe and George Bishop were all putting in big performances up front. This allowed the Sarries half backs, Charlie Pike and Jack Clark to dictate the play for large periods of the first half. A sustained period of Sarries pressure eventually told when a steal by "Tigs" Searle led to Callum Ditchburn piling over for a try, converted by Arthur Prideaux.
Half-time 7 - 7.

Playing up the slope in the second half should have made life more difficult for the home side but it didn't seem to affect them too much. Tiverton were still try to move the ball wide and had some decent opportunities but the Sarries defence held firm. Strong tackling across the side was a feature of the Sarries play with Max Mortimore and Prideaux putting in typically big hits. Half time sub "Big Connor" then began to infuence the game with some very strong forward running. He bulldozed over the line for a well-deserved try on his debut. Prideaux converted again.
Time was now running short and Tivvy were pressing for an equalizer. However, the Sarries were not to be denied and a clever switch pass by the backs released Ed Smale you was eventually caught but not before he had off-loaded to Clark who proceeded to crash over the try-line for the final score of the match.

Well done to both side for providing such an entertaining match.
